I’m not a “plan” person. It would probably be helpful for me to segment my days and seasons to avoid distractions, but it just hasn’t happened despite a handful of attempts. Having said that, the new year has been the exception. I’ve typically chosen a focus for the new year. Past examples include prayer, worship, doctrine and character.
It brought a smile reading this. I was actually thinking a lot like you on “planning” for 2024. On the way home from church Sunday I noticed a sign with someone’s New Years Resolution on it. It came to me pretty quick. How about I make mine “trust & obey”. Heavy emphasis on obey. John 14:23; “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” Powerful promise but it requires a commitment from me. I think God has shown me in ‘23 that my tendency is to be like the prodigal son’s brother or the Pharasee, praying in public. It’s time to be more like the tax collector beating his chest. It’s really pretty easy for us to see the sin in a lost persons life, but instead of trying to correct them or give them advice, we should work on showing them God’s grace. Just like He did for us.
